Pin-Crazy

I can't seem to keep up with this blog very well. I think about it all of the time and always seem to have ideas to blog about but I can't seem to just sit down and do it! Being at home is busier than I thought it would be. I thought I would have ample time to do all of the fun things I want to do but it turns out that I have way too many fun things I want to do! I want to blog and craft and bake goodies and try new recipes and be a coupon queen and housekeeping goddess and prepare for an enormous garage sale and most importantly spend lots of time with my kids. I am not sure even the queen of all superwomen could pull all that off.

I have managed to get in lots of new recipes since I do have to cook every night. I am trying at least 2 new recipes a week and our dinner rotation has gotten a lot more interesting! Wow do I love me some Pinterest! That shit has seriously changed my life! It was like only eating plain Cheerios your whole life everyday for breakfast and then being given a donut! What is all of this wonderful, magical awesomeness that I can cook, craft, wear, read, laugh at and drool over? Seeing all of this made me realize how much stuff there really is out on the internet. I have never been a big internet surfer. I would usually check my email which would lead me to online shopping mostly. Then I would get on Facebook for a while and WAF- a forum I am on which consists of a small group of women who have been together since we were all pregnant together and due in February 2010.

But now you ask? I have Pinterest! It is a one stop shop for almost just about almost anything I would want to see on the internet. It has opened my eyes to many delicious foods and beautiful things and things to create. And good god is it addictive! See more pins....See more pins......See more pins............ yes please! And I am actually doing things I found on there. I have made a ton of recipes and made a few crafts. I plan on starting to blog about some of the things I find and do from there. I wish I was a better photographer though. My photos never seem to do any justice for the food. It might also be that fancy Corelle it is sitting on too!

Well it is a rainy Sunday night and I put a pot of chili on earlier that I can't wait to eat. It smells so freaking good! That is actually my recipe that I have adapted over the years from my mom's recipe. It is simple, but so good! Maybe someday I will get around to sharing that one! For now I am just going to see if I can write another blog by the end of this week.

Girls Night Out

More than 3 months after the epic Dumbalinas' X-mas party all six of us ladies could finally get together again for a girls night out. Dumbalinas was a name we came up with for our group of girl friends in highschool as a joke to make fun of the group of guy friends we hung out with that had their own little group and it just kind of stuck. Jen is not an original member as we didn't meet her until we were in our early 20's but we adopted her into the group with open arms. I promise that now as we are in our 30's we do not still go around calling ourselves the Dumbalinas. It is still more a joke than it ever was. We are no longer a group of girl friends but a group of women who are more like family then friends. I love these girls like sisters.

After meeting at Mindy's house and having a few drinks and chatting we headed to dinner. We chose mexican because who doesn't like mexican and hello margaritas! Good times and laughs were had by all. Someone got the idea to tell them it was Susan's birthday (Ok it is not really for 3 weeks or so but whatever). They brought her fried ice cream, put a sombrero on her head and proceeded to sing to her. Poor Susan. We all didn't hesitate to take turns wearing the sombrero though!

After dinner we went back to Mindy's and talked and laughed until someone realized it was almost 2 am! I was sad we all had to depart. I had the best time as I always do when I am with these ladies. When you have been friends so long and have gone through all of the good, bad and ugly the bond is tight and the friendships are effortless. Those are the best kind!

My baby turns 2!

Saturday was Lilah's 2nd birthday! Where does the time go? I spent the last week trying to remember all of the little things, the big things, the milestones reached. I have to say it has been a fabulous 2 years of being the mom of this sweet, beautiful, funny and crazy little girl. It is funny because I don't remember her exact birth weight, inches, time of birth, or how old she was when she smiled the first time, rolled over the first time or any of the other milestones that us moms hold in such high regard when they are babies. I just remember all of the times she made me smile or laugh or the few times she has made me cry. That is the stuff that is important, the times that create the memories!

Her birthday was another one of those times that her smile, her laugh and funny little personality etched one of those sweet memories into my brain. Her excitement when she saw her birthday cake and balloons and decorations for her party. The smile on her face when she saw her family walk one by one in the door with handfuls of presents for their favorite girl. The laughter she squealed when her Papa bounced her on his leg. The way she opened her gifts with such seriousness and how she matter of fact-ly passed her gifts to the nearest adult with their hands empty to open the packages immediately after opening each one so that  she could play with them as soon as possible. The way her face lit up when it was time to blow out the candle on her cake and the way she shyly buried her face in my neck when we all sang the birthday song to her. The way she pranced around in every single pair of shoes she got (5 pairs!!!!).

It was truly a fabulous day and a great memory that I hope I never forget! I am one lucky mama to be able to spend every single day at home with her. Here is to hoping it never has to end!
