Girls Night Out

More than 3 months after the epic Dumbalinas' X-mas party all six of us ladies could finally get together again for a girls night out. Dumbalinas was a name we came up with for our group of girl friends in highschool as a joke to make fun of the group of guy friends we hung out with that had their own little group and it just kind of stuck. Jen is not an original member as we didn't meet her until we were in our early 20's but we adopted her into the group with open arms. I promise that now as we are in our 30's we do not still go around calling ourselves the Dumbalinas. It is still more a joke than it ever was. We are no longer a group of girl friends but a group of women who are more like family then friends. I love these girls like sisters.

After meeting at Mindy's house and having a few drinks and chatting we headed to dinner. We chose mexican because who doesn't like mexican and hello margaritas! Good times and laughs were had by all. Someone got the idea to tell them it was Susan's birthday (Ok it is not really for 3 weeks or so but whatever). They brought her fried ice cream, put a sombrero on her head and proceeded to sing to her. Poor Susan. We all didn't hesitate to take turns wearing the sombrero though!

After dinner we went back to Mindy's and talked and laughed until someone realized it was almost 2 am! I was sad we all had to depart. I had the best time as I always do when I am with these ladies. When you have been friends so long and have gone through all of the good, bad and ugly the bond is tight and the friendships are effortless. Those are the best kind!

My baby turns 2!

Saturday was Lilah's 2nd birthday! Where does the time go? I spent the last week trying to remember all of the little things, the big things, the milestones reached. I have to say it has been a fabulous 2 years of being the mom of this sweet, beautiful, funny and crazy little girl. It is funny because I don't remember her exact birth weight, inches, time of birth, or how old she was when she smiled the first time, rolled over the first time or any of the other milestones that us moms hold in such high regard when they are babies. I just remember all of the times she made me smile or laugh or the few times she has made me cry. That is the stuff that is important, the times that create the memories!

Her birthday was another one of those times that her smile, her laugh and funny little personality etched one of those sweet memories into my brain. Her excitement when she saw her birthday cake and balloons and decorations for her party. The smile on her face when she saw her family walk one by one in the door with handfuls of presents for their favorite girl. The laughter she squealed when her Papa bounced her on his leg. The way she opened her gifts with such seriousness and how she matter of fact-ly passed her gifts to the nearest adult with their hands empty to open the packages immediately after opening each one so that  she could play with them as soon as possible. The way her face lit up when it was time to blow out the candle on her cake and the way she shyly buried her face in my neck when we all sang the birthday song to her. The way she pranced around in every single pair of shoes she got (5 pairs!!!!).

It was truly a fabulous day and a great memory that I hope I never forget! I am one lucky mama to be able to spend every single day at home with her. Here is to hoping it never has to end!
